Artist Mornin’ Glory always dreamed of being an artist. When she was a small girl, she recalls quietly watching her mother sketch the birds outside of their window. Even then, the awe of art making, the acts of looking, capturing and creating stirred her heart.
When her and her family moved to Georgia, the different ways of life or what she refers to as “Southern Style” refreshed and appealed to her greatly! What she sees as “Southern Style” meaning the South’s emphasis on friendliness, hospitality, family traditions and strong faith in God, began rooting themselves in her personality, but also in her art.
Today, one can see such values in her art with her ‘homey’ and ‘comfy’ scenes and Biblical scripture that appear in many pieces.
Her quirky “artist name,” Mornin’ Glory, came from friends and family who gave her that nickname as a result of her getting up all too ‘bright and early in the morning!’ Also, her love for gardening and flowers (as one can see in many of her paintings) contributed to the lighthearted name. But, more than anything else, the reason she chose to keep the name was the emphasis on the word ’Glory.’ You see, it is her desire to reflect God’s glory in every thought she thinks, stroke she paints and every business interactions she is a part of.
Because Mornin’ Glory believes that her art was a gift from God, she loves creating it for others! We at Mornin’ Glory Studios, believe that gifts are no good if they go unshared! In The Bible, (Matthew 25: 20 & 21) it is written that a man who had received five “talents” from his Master brought those and an additional five he had earned to his Master. The Master was thrilled with the dilligence, reverence, wisdom and creativity the servant used towards what was given to him, and the Master replied “Well done good and faithful servant… come and share your Master’s happiness.”
That is the heart of the story of Mornin’ Glory: to be a faithful servant who multiplies the “talents” that God gave her.
It is our continuous prayer that you will let us share our “talents” with you.
